Counselling and advice
S.T.E.P.S. was opened in March 2012 by Gerry McKinney who is Chairperson and Counsellor of the programme. He has 30+ years experience in this field and receives supervision regularly. The programme runs 3 days and evenings per week catering for up to 20 individuals in one-to-one basis and further 6 persons per group therapy. Its an on-going community service and enables individuals access to emotional support services tailored to each individual's stage of illness and services needed.
Helping you understand
Due to the stigma that remains regarding mental health, individuals find it easier to approach community/voluntary sector organisations initially for emotional support services. Our services will directly benefit individuals with primary experience of mental health issues, their family, carers and our community. They will benefit by using our services and tools tailored to their personal path. Our service will enable individuals to have an understanding of their current mental health difficulties and how to implement coping strategies for their personal recovery plan.
We'll plan sessions to suit you:
